HEALTHCARE ADVANCEMENTS UNDERWAY: HUSKUARADIO and TRAUMAHUA PROJECTS LAUNCHED

On February 26th, a pivotal partnership meeting took place in Kisvárda, Hungary, marking the official launch of two significant cross-border healthcare projects: HUSKUARADIO and TRAUMAHUA. These initiatives are set to bring vital improvements to medical institutions in the region.

The meeting brought together key representatives from the Uzhhorod City Multi-Profile Clinical Hospital, including Director Oleg Holub, Deputy Director for Maternal and Child Healthcare Natalia Mushak, and Head of the Public Procurement Department Yulia Berlanyuk. Also in attendance were representatives from project partners, including the St. Damian Greek Catholic Hospital in Kisvárda and the Hospital of Kráľovský Chlmec in Slovakia.

Director Oleg Holub highlighted the significance of international collaboration in healthcare advancements: “We are focusing on international partnerships that open new opportunities for our institutions. With the support of the EU and in cooperation with our partners, we are renovating the orthopedic and traumatology departments, as well as the surgical department of our hospital. Additionally, we will be acquiring new medical equipment and furniture for the traumatology department.”

The TRAUMAHUA project is particularly focused on modernizing medical infrastructure and enhancing trauma care. As part of the initiative, the traumatology department of UMBCL will undergo comprehensive renovation, while the Ungvári District Hospital will upgrade its traumatology and surgery departments. Improvements include construction and mechanical modernization, complete furniture replacement, new ward beds and bedside tables, and state-of-the-art medical equipment procurement. Furthermore, joint professional training sessions will be organized to ensure seamless knowledge-sharing among medical personnel across borders.

Another crucial development within these projects is the acquisition of a new ultrasound machine with a full set of sensors, which will be used in cooperation between the St. Damian Greek Catholic Hospital and the Hospital of Kráľovský Chlmec. These upgrades will significantly enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve patient outcomes.

The partnership meeting served as a crucial milestone in the implementation of these projects. Discussions covered project tasks, potential challenges, and site visits to the areas awaiting renovation. With the support of the European Union, these developments will ensure safer and more efficient patient care for residents of the border region, including those affected by war injuries.

The Joint Secretariat is pleased to support these collaborative efforts, which aim to enhance healthcare services through cross-border cooperation. We extend our gratitude to all partners for their dedication and contributions toward making high-quality accident care without borders a reality.
