Programme bodies

The Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme is managed and supported by a series of different bodies that are responsible for administering the programme and assisting projects. 
  • European Commission (EC): Donor of the EU contribution.

The institutions below represent the internal governance of the programme. The Joint Secretariat together with each country’s Branch Office work directly with applicants and project representatives.

the Partner Countries set up a monitoring committee (hereinafter referred also to as ‘MC’) according to Articles 28-29 of the Interreg Regulation to monitor the implementation of the Programme and to fulfil the functions defined in Article 30 of the same regulation. The detailed operation of the MC is regulated in its Rules of Procedure adopted on its first meeting on 1 February 2023.

in compliance with Article 45 of the Interreg Regulation, the Partner Countries have identified, for the purposes of Article 71 of the CPR and of Article 46 of the Interreg Regulation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary as the single managing authority for the Programme.

The day-to-day implementation of the Programme is carried out by the JS, it shall be the general source of information for public interest in the Programme, as well as for potential partners. It keeps daily contact with lead partners of contracted projects. The JS has its Branch Offices (BOs) in Košice, Prešov, Satu Mare, Maramures, Uzhhorod and Ivano-Frankivsk which fulfil the tasks in close cooperation with the JS. The BOs are particularly responsible for supporting efficient project development on all sides of the border, by giving direct assistance to the Applicants.

Directorate General for Audit of European Funds Hungary.  The AA as independent audit body shall be responsible for the designation audits. The Audit Authority of the programme ensures that audits are carried out on the management and control systems, an appropriate sample of projects and the annual accounts of the programme

The AA is assisted by the Group of Auditors in carrying out its functions, in a consultative role according to Article 48 (1) of Regulation (EU) No 2021/1059.
