On February 19, 2025, the kick-off conference of the HUSKROUA/23/RS/3.1/010 SMART ENERGY project was successfully held in Satu Mare. This collaborative initiative unites three organizations from Ukraine – Agency for Regional Development of the Transcarpathian Region; Romania – Association of Intermunicipal Development of Satu-Mare County; and Hungary – Municipality of Uyfegerto, to enhance energy efficiency in medical facilities and promote cross-border cooperation in energy efficiency practices.
The SMART ENERGY project aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation in energy efficiency and renewable energy by implementing joint initiatives to increase awareness, expand knowledge, and actively utilize renewable energy sources. This will help reduce energy costs in medical institutions and pave the way for sustainable energy solutions in the region.
Key project activities include the installation of solar power systems at the Satu Mare County Emergency Hospital (Romania), KNP “Uzhhorod City Multipurpose Clinical Hospital” (Ukraine), and three medical offices in Uyfegerto (Hungary). The project also includes training for municipal leaders and energy managers on energy efficiency practices, energy audits of communal buildings, an awareness campaign to promote renewable energy, and knowledge exchange programs for energy and healthcare experts from Ukraine, Romania, and Hungary.
By the end of the project, significant progress is anticipated in implementing energy efficiency measures and increasing the use of renewable energy sources among the project partners and in the local communities. This initiative is a model for future green energy projects, fostering international cooperation and opening doors to new opportunities in renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
Together towards an energy-efficient future!
