On February 11, 2025, the Bee Home Project officially launched with an Opening Conference and Workshop in Satu Mare, Romania. Led by the E-Consult Association, this cross-border initiative brings together partners from Hungary, Romania, and Ukraine to safeguard pollinators and predatory insects while fostering regional cooperation.
The Bee Home Project is a collaboration between E-Consult Association (Romania), the lead partner coordinating conservation efforts in Northwestern Romania; Felső-Tisza Foundation (Hungary), contributing expertise in habitat restoration and community engagement; and the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies (Ukraine), providing educational tools and methodologies for pollinator conservation.
The event brought together over 50 participants, including journalists, school representatives, researchers, and key stakeholders. Experts in entomology and ecology delivered presentations on the importance of pollinator species and the threats they face. Discussions emphasized the need for sustainable habitat creation and community involvement in pollinator conservation. The audience showed strong engagement, with many participants expressing interest in future project activities.
The workshop provided an opportunity for project partners to align their strategies for the effective implementation of the initiative. Key topics included:
- Common methodologies – Establishing unified approaches to conservation efforts across borders.
- Action plans – Defining steps for habitat restoration and pollinator monitoring.
- Communication strategies – Enhancing public awareness and engagement through educational tools and outreach campaigns.
The Ukrainian partner shared interactive tools, games, and books developed in previous projects, offering valuable educational resources for raising awareness on pollinator conservation. This exchange of knowledge laid the groundwork for a coordinated approach to preserving biodiversity across the participating countries.
The Bee Home Project will run until January 20, 2026, focusing on mitigating agroecosystem degradation through active conservation efforts. The success of the launch event sets a strong foundation for cross-border collaboration in pollinator conservation.
Stay tuned for updates as partners work together to preserve biodiversity!
